Whether as a patient, a family member, a friend, a colleague, or a healthcare professional, breast cancer is a disease that reaches far beyond medicine. It touches our emotions, our relationships, and our understanding of what it means to be vulnerable, resilient, and hopeful. The words “You have breast cancer” are perhaps some of the most frightening words a woman can hear. In a single moment, life can change forever. Yet alongside fear, there is also extraordinary hope. Today, I have the great privilege of welcoming Dr Karolina Larsson, oncologist, researcher, and specialist in breast cancer care. Dr Larsson completed her doctoral studies in 2026 and has dedicated her professional life to improving both the treatment and quality of life of women diagnosed with breast cancer.
